Applied physics 2nd cycle studies

Detailed qualification criteria for recruitment to the first year of full-time and part-time second-cycle studies conducted in the academic year 2024/25
at the Faculty of Materials Engineering and Physics
Based on the Resolution of the Senate of the Cracow University of Technology of 26 June 2024, No. 52/d/06/2024 on the conditions, procedure, method of conducting and the start and end date of recruitment for first-cycle and second-cycle studies conducted in the academic year 2024/25

The basis for admission to studies in Applied Physics is obtaining:
an enrollment index equal to or higher than the minimum value established by the Faculty Admissions Committee, where:
1. the index is determined according to the formula: W = 20 S
S is the arithmetic mean of all semester grades obtained by the candidate during their completed studies, calculated to two decimal places. The detailed method for calculating the arithmetic mean is specified in § 35, section 1 of the Study Regulations at the Tadeusz Kościuszko Cracow University of Technology.
2. a positive assessment of the compatibility of the learning outcomes achieved by the candidate during their completed studies with the learning outcomes characteristic of a given second-cycle program. Appendix 1

The Admissions Committee assesses the compatibility of learning outcomes by comparing the learning outcomes achieved by the candidate during their completed studies with the learning outcomes characteristic of a given second-cycle program. Verification of the learning outcomes achieved by a candidate during their studies is based on the diploma supplement or another document issued by the university. A document other than the diploma supplement serves as the basis for verifying learning outcomes for candidates who completed their studies without receiving a supplement. The candidate completes the verification of achieved learning outcomes form. Appendix 2

The list of learning outcomes specific to a given second-cycle program is published on the faculty website and on the Cracow University of Technology’s admissions website no later than three months before the start of admissions for that program.

In the event of a negative assessment of the compliance of learning outcomes, the Faculty Admissions Committee informs the candidate of the opportunity to take a competency test. Details are included in the test administration rules in Appendix 3.

Test questions are generated based on the set of questions in Appendix 4, created based on the learning outcomes for first-cycle programs in the field of applied physics.

Admissions for the second cycle of applied physics are conducted for the field of study. Information regarding the specialization during the recruitment process is provided in the form of a declaration. The specialization with the highest number of applications will be launched. In the event of a tie, the one offered in the previous year will be launched. If there are sufficient applicants, two specializations may be launched. If there are not enough qualified candidates, the program may not be launched. The final decision to launch a program if the number of applicants is less than 24 is made by the Dean of the Faculty.
